The Last Princess: US premiere, The Three website

Before its official May 10 opening in Japan, The Last Princess (the new remake of The Hidden Fortress) will have its US premiere in Los Angeles. The screening will take place on Sunday, the 27th of April (i.e. next week) and will include a short Q&A session with the director Shinji Higuchi, actor Jun Matsumoto and Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO in Star Wars. More information about the event can be found at the USC School of Cinematic Arts website.

It really looks like they are pushing the film to the international markets. In fact, after yesterday’s Japanese premiere in Tokyo, Japan Zone quotes the star Matsumoto as having pointed out that the “movie is a mix that includes some of the best elements of the past 50 years of western cinema. I think it’s turned out great and should be well received in America.” Make of that what you will.

In related news, The Three now seem to have an official website. The band, composed of the Japanese rocker Tomoyasu Hotei, RnB singer Kreva and bassist Seiji Kameda, formed to create a theme song for The Last Princess, a part of which can now be heard of the website. Head to thethree.jp to take a listen, if you dare.

Finally, there is a short bit on YouTube from the post-premiere press conference, which you can find here. It’s in Japanese, though.
