When did Kurosawa first visit Britain?

I’m doing some work on Kurosawa and wondered when he first visited Britain?

Late October 1957. It was Kurosawa’s first trip to Europe, and I think also his first time in a western country. Among other things, he attended the UK premiere of Throne of Blood at the National Film Theatre in London. For more information, see Galbraith, page 245.
