Tokyo Journal vote on Japanese films and filmmakers

If you like voting for things, Tokyo Journal has a poll about Japanese cinema, asking you to rank films, actors and directors.

I don’t really usually link to polls as there are so many of them, but Tokyo Journal is one of the older English language publications in Japan, and they asked nicely.

Should I be worried that I don’t know over half of the actors/actresses listed in the “most famous” list?

The results are more interesting than the poll! I’d never heard of Tomohisa Yamashita, but apparently he is the most famous Japanese actor these days. And at the moment, Battle Royale is the no.1 Japanese film of all time, which I would suspect says more about the age and background of those filling out the poll than anything else.
