I just found a new DVD version of the Ballad of Narayama due for release on 10 June 2008.
This is the 1983 remake by Shohei Imamura, not the original 1958 film by Keisuke Kinoshita (one of the Four Knights).
I have a copy of the 1958 film (released last year)
I have not seen the 1983 film since its release in the 80s.
I am assuming that the new DVD will be an improvement on the current Hong Kong DVD.
