One would need a time machine to see the sights found in Drunken Angel or Stray Dog. It definitely would be worth the effort, though, if for no other reason than to see the Jungle Boogie.

A nice article here in the FT recommending films to see if you are lucky enough to be visiting Tokyo soon (impossible at the moment of course). You might need to register to see it.

Stray Dog is at no.4. A good choice I think, although I think arguably Drunken Angel is equally good at setting the scene.
Personally, I’d add the wonderful anime Your Name – I think its quite brilliant at animating regular life in modern Tokyo, even down to the way people use google maps to navigate.
