In a footnote in his Kurosawa/Mifune biography, Stuart Galbraith IV mentions that “in 2001, a massive manga was published which offered a detailed — if fictionalised — account of the production [of Runaway Train]” (page 470). I assume that the production in question is the one Kurosawa was working on in 1966-1967, and not the 1985 film made based on that same script.
Does anyone here know anything else about this particular comic book? Galbraith gives no title, and I have not been able to locate any references to it online with my searches based on the film title and year. I know that at least lawless here knows her way around the manga world and knows people who know things, so maybe someone might be able to help us to locate this curiosity piece?
