A new Chinese film directed by Chuan Lu and titled Mountain Patrol has been compared to Kurosawa’s works by both the Seattle Times (“…reminiscent of David Lean’s sprawling spectacles and Akira Kurosawa’s Oscar-winning tale of survival in the wild, ‘Dersu Uzala’…”) and Willamette Week Online (“…traces of Akira Kurosawa and Werner Herzog…”). I thought that two mentions would amount for a heads-up.
