That is one cute towel! I’m jealous!
The photos of the airplanes are absolutely gorgeous! Are they still operating?

I was wondering about the same thing, Amnesty, so I did some research.
From what I have been able to gather, JAS merged with JAL (Japan Airlines) in 2006, and as the fleet was transferred to the new owner, the 7 Kurosawa designs were also sadly painted over to reflect JAL’s own colours and logo.

Crazy! Really random coolness, Vili!
I want to wish you all a very groovy towel day with this Akira Kurosawa designed towel that I found a couple of weeks ago when cleaning our dressing room closets. Click to enlarge.
For those wondering what the history of this towel is, it was made in the mid 1990s when Kurosawa worked on a set of airplane paint designs for Japan Air System. You can see a picture of an actual airplane with Kurosawa’s design here.
There were a handful of designs that Kurosawa made as part of the set, four of which you can see here. Note though that the pictures there are not of actual airplanes, but of computer models.
