Seven Samurai Returns to Cinemas in the US

Seventy years after its original release, Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai has returned to select cinemas in the US with Toho’s most recent restoration and 4K transfer.

Distributed by Janus Films in the US, the new release has a stylish dedicated website which lists available showings.

The release has also got a brand new trailer. It’s worth watching if only to get an idea how Seven Samurai might sound like if its soundtrack was composed today.

Go see the film if you can, as it’s definitely one of those films that benefits from the scale and atmosphere of a big screen environment. Then again, what Kurosawa film doesn’t?

Well, I suppose Song of the Horse wouldn’t really. But Seven Samurai definitely does. Go see it and tell us how it was.
