Although they themselves call it “arbitrary, non-inclusive, anglocentric and all wrong. It shuns indie films in favor of big studio ones, it’s seriously lacking in TV on DVD, and is ‘safe’ on many levels.” DVD Talk has nevertheless put together a list of top 10 DVDs of 2006. Although the films are not actually ranked, it is a pleasure to see Criterion’s re-release of Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai top the list.
I dont particularly care for DVDTalk, but its not surprising that even they can not deny the near perfection of the new release.
I was surprised to be very intrigued by both of the commentaries, sitting though the entire movie twice with it on was very easy. I wish more titles would be so well done.
