Scene Dissection: Seven Samurai

The 405 has a short article on Kurosawa’s framing of the group in Seven Samurai.

A straight forward read, I thought, though the reference to figure iii is incorrect.

Unless my eyes have missed it, only six of the seven samurai are present in figure iii.

Katsushiro is missing and the seventh character, in the centre of the shot and framed by the samurai is actually Yohei, one of the villagers.
