Akira Kurosawa, like many other great artists, was reluctant to talk about his art, believing that what he had to say about it could already be discovered from the films themselves. Yet, for any ardent student and admirer of his works the fact that he never published a coherent work discussing his own approach is certainly a loss. Here, then, is a collection of some of his musings on the subject.
Please note that these quotes come from various sources and are here presented out of their original contexts. I highly recommend anyone who is really interested in what Kurosawa had to say about film making to get hold of the full sources themselves, listed at the end of each sub page.
