I think that May 1st has by now started everywhere on the globe, and has in fact already finished in many places, so let me now announce the first session of our Akira Kurosawa Online Film Club officially opened!
The forums are therefore open for your thoughts on Rashomon, which was the first film on our list. I have personally taken the first step by posting a somewhat speculative take on the final scene in the film. I will also post some more thoughts and observations in the coming days, and I am also very much looking forward to what everyone else has on their mind.
As for the promised summary of critical literature, I am afraid that paid work has been a bigger priority for me in the past weeks, so the summary will not be available. I am, however, going through the various books with the intention of at least bringing from them into discussion some ideas and topics that I personally find interesting or worth discussing.
If you are a newcomer to this site, the idea of the Film Club is for us to watch a Kurosawa film every month from now on, and to discuss that film together on the forums. There is more information and discussion available here and here.
