This apparently broke almost a month ago, but somehow it went past my radar — a TV remake of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low (Tengoku to jigoku) is in the makes by the same company, TV Asahi, that is producing the Ikiru remake mentioned a few months ago.

As with Ikiru, the setting in this TV adaptation has been changed from post-war Japan to modern Japan (Hokkaido, apparently). The drama will air sometime this fall.

Attached are writer Yasuo Tsuruhashi as both the screenwriter and director, and Koichi Sato, Hiroshi Abe, Kyoka Suzuki and Ken Watanabe’s model daughter Anne Watanabe in the main roles.
