Possible future Kurosawa releases in India

The Indian film distributor Shemaroo Entertainment has announced the launch of a new cinema label concentrating on releases of world cinema classics. According to reports, the company has so far acquired around 100 titles, including something from Akira Kurosawa.

There is no word yet about which Kurosawa films will be available, and what sort of censorship they may have to be subjected to. But this report acknowledges the issue of censorship:

The problem of censorship for these films is also being worked upon. “We are trying to see that how these films can release with no or minimum number of cuts. With cuts on some of these works, the essence of the film is lost. We are trying to figure out what best can be done,” he adds.

There is also no confirmation yet on the price of these releases.
