Two Kurosawa mentions

If you happen to be in Tokyo on Monday and enjoy contemporary dance, you may be interested to know that a production called Sokerissa! will be staged at three o’clock and seven o’clock at Theater Brats in Shinjuku. The show, where the dancer-choreographer Yuki Aoki dances with six homeless men apparently incorporates music from Seven Samurai, which is why I thought that it might be worth mentioning.

I personally wonder about the name of the show. It doesn’t sound like Japanese to me, but does curiously correspond to a Finnish word with the meaning “in sugar”. You can read more about the production at the Daily Yomimuri Online.

Secondly, there is another very short review of Criterion’s Yojimbo and Sanjuro at The Boston Globe website.
